Where can I find it
The Password Manager is accessible from 2 locations: The Main menu and the Toolbar.
To access the Main menu, click on the OI logo next to your browser’s navigation bar (top right). It is the same logo as the orange one shown below.
To display the Toolbar, go in the Main menu and retrieve it from the Settings if it was hiding in there...
The Dashboard is symbolized by OI
To open The Dashboard full page:
- Position your mouse on top of the OI logo
- Click on it
The first time you open your Dashboard, you won't see any relevant information. This is normal. The Dashboard works in the background aggregating information and will start showing interesting information as soon as you start browsing and using our tool.
From the Toolbar, you can:
Access your Privowny Account page
This is where you will manage/configure your Privowny Account. From here, you can:
- Change/Reset your Master Password
- Import/Export data
- Log out from all sessions
- Delete your account
Open the Help center
Hide the Toolbar / Access the Quick Tour
Is the Toolbar in the way? You can decide to hide it and access its content through the Main menu only:
- Click on the OI icon
- Click on the "3 dots" icon
- Click on Hide bar
To see the Toolbar again, go to the Main menu > Settings > Privowny components > Show Privowny Toolbar
If the Toolbar is taking too much real estate for your taste but you still want to be able to access all its content easily, you have the option to either move it or make it shrink. To move it, position your mouse on the grey part of the Toolbar (on top) and click on the 4 lines that just appeared. You will then be able to move it around. To make it shrink, position your mouse on the same grey part and click on the arrow.
From the Dashboard, you will see:
The Dashboard gathers information about your digital footprint and shows you a recap of your online behavior and how it impacts your privacy and the personal data you leave behind.
The amount of data you shared
Starting with the first day you use Privowny, and if you wish so, we will keep track of the data you share online and aggregate the numbers (you can choose to only see the last 6 months or to see all the data you shared since your registration date - click on the "3 dots" on the top right).
If you choose to NOT let us collect the data you leave behind at the same time websites do, then this graph will be empty. You can do this easily from the toolbar for the site you are currently on or from the Data Manager for a more selective approach.
The type of data you shared
It can be interesting to see the kind of data you left behind. We decided to cherry-pick the most sensitive ones (email addresses, phone numbers, passwords, credit card numbers) and let you know with one look how many of them are out there. These are the sensitive data you entrusted companies with (you chose to share these at some point). To see the details of these companies:
- Position your mouse on top of the segment of the pie chart you are interested in
- Click on it
The Data Manager opens up and shows you the list of companies you left data with.
Your grasp on trackers
How well are you asserting your control over trackers? The Tracker Manager brings you control and flexibility
. This chart shows you at a glance how often you are using your new power:
- Percentage of sites where you blocked all the trackers
- Percentage of sites where you blocked some trackers
- percentage of sites where you allowed all the trackers
Your Online Persona
One of the ways the internet profiles you is by aggregating information about your browsing activities: sites you visit, searches you perform, etc. The Dashboard does the same thing but for your benefit
. You can then have an insider's look at the way you are portrayed online. It might take a couple of days before you start seeing keywords gathering. Keep on browsing and come back later! To trigger the cloud word from The Dashboard:
- Click on "Allow” button in "My Online Persona"
Your consent is absolutely needed to trigger the classification of your online activity. The graph won't be completed until you activate this feature.
